The Governor of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria Engr David Umahi has emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Fresh Primary for the Senatorial position of Ebonyi South Zone.
Umahi won 250 votes while his major contestant Mrs. Ann Agom Eze received zero votes.
The chairperson Electoral Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Adeboye, disclosed this while addressing journalists at Afikpo North Local Government Area, where the fresh election occurred.
“By the power bestowed on me as the chairperson of the 5-man electoral Committee, Governor David Nweze Umahi, haven satisfied the Electoral requirements and haven scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declared him winner and elected,” Adebayo added.
In his acceptance speech, the Governor thanked APC, the electorate, and his supporters for making him worthy to stand for the forthcoming General Election to contest for the Senatorial position of Ebonyi South Zone.
Umahi promised to work for the people of the zone.
The State Chairman of APC, Mr. Stanley Okoroemegha, said they expected Umahi to win.
“Umahi has been a faithful leader of the party, unlike Ann Agom Eze, who is not a registered party member.
“She has not even paid her dues, so she is not qualified for the election in the first place,” Okoroemegha said.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner REC in Ebonyi State, Mr. Joseph Chukwu, further added that he was satisfied with the election’s outcome.
