A former PDP member in the House of Representatives and 2019 APC Governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Moshood Mustapha has implored all the aggrieved APC members in the state to retrace their steps.

Mustapha urged them to join hands with the state governor, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq in developing the state.

The former lawmaker implored the stakeholders to sheath their swords and come together pleading that if there is any issue they are not clear about, they should ask the governor for clarification.

“If he makes amend, fine, if he doesn’t listen to us, then we should wait to react at the appropriate time. This is the time for governance and not politics. Let’s allow the governor to concentrate on governance,” Mustapha said.

The APC stalwart made the plea in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, North Central Nigeria on Friday at his GRA residence while addressing newsmen.

Stomach infrastructure’

Answering questions, Mustapha traced the crisis rocking the Kwara State’s chapter of the party to the refusal of Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq to share money to party stakeholders and politicians.

The  former member of the House of Representatives said the governor is more passionate about infrastructure development than attending to “stomach infrastructure”.

He scored AbdulRazaq high in the areas of infrastructure development and prudent management of the state’s meagre resources.

Mustapha, a former aide of the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, whom he said he still has respect for and holds in high esteem said Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq in the last two years has done well in the area of developmental projects.

“The Governor is determined to fix the infrastructure that has gone bad. He’s not keen about stomach infrastructure which is the problem he has with some APC stakeholders. I want to award him a pass mark” he disclosed.

Mustapha who served as chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign committee, during the 2019 general election in Kwara State absolved Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of any blame in the recent allegation that he expropriated N1 billion of the campaign fund that was meant to usher the party into power two years ago.

According to him, there was no basis to make such allegations against Governor AbdulRazaq because the money in question which came from Abuja also came with a template for sharing it.

Political ambition

On his ambition in 2023, the APC Stalwart told journalists that when the time comes, he would make his intention known after he must have consulted widely with his team and political constituent.

He disclosed that more members of the opposition parties particularly from the PDP will soon decamp to the ruling APC as it is presently happening thereby brightening the chances of the APC winning the 2023 Presidential elections and other positions.
