The All Progressives Congress National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Idele Alile, has inaugurated over 800 registered APC Women Wing Support Groups in Abuja to mobilise a nationwide drive for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
The event, themed “United for Progress: Women as Catalyst for Renewed Hope Today and Tomorrow,” brought together women leaders from across the federation to cement grassroots mobilisation for the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr. Alile declared that the event “is about our President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Today’s event is about the APC Women. Today’s event is about the APC Support Group Women. Today’s event is about the APC NGO Women.”
In a goodwill message, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, reiterated confidence in the President’s economic reforms, urging women to explain those reforms to constituents.
He charged attendees to champion the party’s policies at the community level: “Do not hold back. Do not be shy… My message to you today is for you to stand strong.”
The National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, reaffirmed plans to amend party structures to deepen women’s inclusion.
Represented by the Legal Adviser, Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, the Party Chairman noted the nationwide public hearings to amend the APC Constitution to increase women’s representation.
“One of the main reasons of that activity is to ensure the inclusion of all new women in the NWC… to make it a law that more women will be appointed in elected positions,” he said.
A panel session titled “From Registration to Action: Mobilising Women for a Stronger APC and a Greater Nigeria” featured reflections from the panelists.
Senator Binta Garba called for concerted support for female aspirants, warning of the extra burden on female candidates.
“Once you want to go to an election as a woman, you do three times what the men are doing. You campaign over and over and over.”

Dr. Umar Tanko Yakasai of the Tinubu Support Group urged women’s unity and self-forgiveness as a political strategy, noting the trusted role of women.
“Women are the most trusted species on earth. My biggest hero is the woman who is my wife.”
He called for women to build mutual support structures that translate numbers into political influence by pooling resources from economically empowered women to support female candidates.
Tomisin Edu charged APC Women to utilise digital media to galvanise support for the party to build capacity, advocate for, and publicise their activities.
A motion endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term was moved by a Former Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, seconded by the Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Women Development Centre, Dr. Asabe Vilita Bashir, and endorsed unopposed by representatives of 800 support groups from the 36 states and the FCT.
The Party National Women Leader, Dr. Alile, appealed to the Party Women and Support Groups to “Learn to support one another,” saying, “without empowerment, we go nowhere.”
The gathering signalled a coordinated women-driven mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027.
