The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa State, Professor Muktar Ahmed, has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Misa Musa, winner of the Ganye Constituency House of Assembly by-election.
Musa secured 15,923 votes, defeating his closest rival, Buba Muhammed Joda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,794 votes.
The keenly contested election was decided by a narrow margin of 129 votes.
Although five political parties participated in the poll, the contest was largely between the APC, Nigeria’s ruling party, and the PDP, which controls the Adamawa State government.
Former Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Martin Babale, described the election as peaceful and credible, commending voters for their orderly conduct and impressive turnout.
