The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the launch of a nationwide Continuous Electronic Membership Registration Exercise scheduled to commence on March 1, 2026, as part of efforts to expand and modernise its party structures across Nigeria.

The exercise will be conducted simultaneously in all 8,809 electoral wards nationwide, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The announcement was made at a press briefing at the party’s zonal headquarters in Awka, capital of Anambra State, by APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara.

Opara said the initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s internal democracy, improving data integrity and enhancing administrative efficiency through digital innovation.
“This nationwide initiative will begin on March 1, 2026, and will take place simultaneously across all 8,809 electoral wards in Nigeria,” he said. “Existing members are expected to validate their membership, while new and intending members are encouraged to register and join the party.”

He stated that participants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). A valid voter’s card and two passport photographs are also required to complete the process.

According to Opara, APGA became the first political party in Nigeria to fully automate its membership registration system in June 2024, a move he described as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to “transparency, efficiency and inclusivity.”

“The electronic registration exercise is designed to digitise and update the party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of records, provide efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy and strengthen APGA’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria,” he added.

Registration can be completed online at www.officialapga.ng, via WhatsApp at 07055363333, or at designated ward offices nationwide. New members will receive a Temporary Membership Slip before the issuance of a Permanent Membership Card.

Opara clarified that members who previously registered electronically are not required to re-register, but those who have not uploaded their passport photographs should update their records through the party’s website or WhatsApp channel.

APGA said it aims to surpass a two-million membership mark through the exercise, describing the target as central to consolidating its national presence.
“We are hoping to cross the two-million numerical strength,” Opara said.

Responding to claims that APGA is regionally confined, Opara dismissed the characterisation, insisting the party’s footprint extends beyond any single part of the country.

“Every party has regional colouration. APGA, by its constitution, cannot be called a regional party,” he said.

“This is a party that has won the election in Benue State. Such a party cannot be called a regional party anymore.”
He further stressed that political coalitions should be driven by shared ideology rather than expediency.

“It is important that political parties that share the same ideologies come together. If you are coming together as a party, it must be with ideology, not only to remove the party in power,” he said.

The party urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the registration window to align with what it described as its progressive vision for the country.

“We invite all eligible Nigerians to seize this opportunity to join the APGA family and contribute to shaping the future of our great nation. Together, we move forward,” Opara said.
