Army Chief expresses Confidence In Commitment, Capabilities Of Personnel

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has expressed his confidence in the commitment and capability of the personnel of the Nigerian Army (NA) in ensuring a safe and secure environment.

This he said is attainable through close collaborations with sister services and other security agencies.

The COAS stated this on Thursday, at the closing ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Combined Second and Third Quarters Conference 2023, at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1, Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

While addressing the conference, the Army Chief said the briefs given by the Senior officers as well as the presentations made, reinforced the tasks and highlighted the challenges ahead of the Nigerian Army.

He therefore charged all formation commanders to calibrate their strength to deal decisive blows on the nation’s adversaries, while pointing out that the far reaching decisions made during the conference will propel the Army to redefine its training and operational activities to attain desirable outcomes.

“We must recalibrate our strength to deal decisive blow to the advasaries within and without appropriately, therefore, I expect that the decisions arrived at during our deliveration will help refine our training and Operational activities towards realising desirable outcome.

“Our deliberations on pertinent issues during the conference have reinforce the task ahead of us and fairly depicted that it is not going to be easy. Let me reiterate, that we cannot afford to show any form of weakness because the advasaries we fight are embolden by weakness.”

According to General Lagbaja,  the conference provided a platform for the Senior Officers to review Nigerian Army (NA) training, operational and administrative activities that directly Impacts national security.

Presentation of Cheques

Also at the event, the Chief of Army Staff presented cheques to 10 first time beneficiaries of the Nigerian Army Personal Insurance Scheme.

This is an effort to provide financial security and to support the families of personnel who died in active service.

This gesture by the Army Chief is an expression of Nigerian Army’s appreciation of the service and sacrifices its personnel render in defence of the nation.

During the conference, formation commanders leading various operations across the country’s geopolitical zones briefed the participants as some selected middle cadre officers joined in the deliberation as revealed by the Army Chief.

At the end of the conference, the former Force Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Major General Abdulkahlifa Ibrahim was decorated with the National Order of Chad medal of honour, presented to him by the Chadian Government, during his tour of duty.
