Army Uncovers Arms Cache in Taraba Operation

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have uncovered a hidden cache of arms and military gear in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, tightening the noose on criminal elements along the Benue-Taraba border.

The operation, conducted on 6 September 2025, was a cordon-and-search mission in Ikyaior village, following intelligence that a suspect known as “Full Fire” was harbouring armed criminals in the area.

According to a statement by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, no suspects were found at the scene, but several military-related items were recovered.

The seized items include five Special Forces face caps, three AK-47 magazines, three FN rifle magazines, three rifle slings, two FN rifle breech blocks and slides, one AK-47 firing mechanism, two FN rifle stocks, two FN rifle springs, one mini-telescopic sight, one AK-47 rifle butt, one FN rifle bag, one badminton bag, two charms, and one flashlight.

The Commander 6 Brigade / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift action and professionalism.

“The Brigade will remain vigilant, proactive, and resolute in ridding Taraba State of criminal elements,” he assured.

He further urged residents to continue sharing timely intelligence with security forces, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to sustaining peace across Taraba State.
