Association trains women, youths on mechanized poultry business
The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has trained over 50 residents of Ajeromi/Ajegunle Federal Constituency, Lagos State, on agro-mechanized poultry business.
The five-day training, which held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Hall, Ojo Road, Amukoko, for youths and women across the constituency was in collaboration with Lyrics Consulting Limited, to uplift the standard of living of the people.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the Project’s Consultant, Prof. Boye Omole, who revealed that the participants were drawn across the Federal Constituency, said participatory method of learning was used throughout the training.
According to him, the method allowed for close interaction among the facilitators and participants, with a view to achieving optimal result in terms of deep understanding on the part of the participants.
The participants were trained on different areas of mechanized poultry business such as brooding, management practices, biosecurity and disease management, processing, value addition and digital marketing.
The Comptroller-General of the NAQS, Dr. Vincent Isegbe, represented by Comptroller of Quarantine, ACQ Ebele Uzoma, urged the participants to put to proper use the knowledge acquired during the training, stating that it will no doubt have positive impact in their lives.
In his remarks, sponsor of the programme, who is the House of Representatives member representing Ajeromi/Ajegunle Federal Constituency, Taiwo Musibau, urged the participants to make judicious use of the knowledge gained during the training to uplift their livelihood and also impact meaningfully on the country’s agriculture sector.
