In continuation of his rallies across the country, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, will on Monday (today) lead prominent members of the party including governors to Kaduna, the Kaduna state capital.

The rally billed to hold at the Ranchers Bees Stadium is the first to be held in the North-West following last week’s flag-off in Uyo.

Ahead of the rally, a national officer of the party, Timothy Osadolor, stated that the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, has agreed to abide by the recommendations of the Board of Trustees reconciliation committee which last week, advised him to commit to quitting his post after the 2023 presidential election.

Osadolor, who is the Deputy National Youth Leader, added that Ayu would have objected to the BoT’s position if he was not comfortable with it given that he attended the meeting where the recommendations were made.

He said, “The chairman is a member of the BoT. If he was not in support of the decisions reached, he could have objected,” adding that “it is the PDP that needs his services more, especially in a critical time like this.”

Similarly, a member of the seven-man reconciliation committee and former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, noted that since Ayu was present at the BoT meeting, he is aware of the resolutions.

When asked if Ayu had been notified, he said, “Yes. He was actually at the meeting when the resolution was passed.”

Meanwhile, no date has been fixed yet for the National Executive Committee’s meeting where the BoT is expected to submit part of its recommendations.

Bola Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will also on Monday (today) honour the invitation of leaders from northern Nigeria under the auspices of Arewa Joint Committee for an interactive session.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Tinubu’s Media Officer, Tunde Rahman, in Abuja on Sunday.

Rahman disclosed that the meeting is part of a wider interaction with selected presidential candidates to discuss their plans for the region, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The statement partly read, “The APC presidential candidate would attend the event as part of his decision to engage all segments of the Nigerian society with his campaign message of hope, national unity and prosperity.

“The event, which holds at the Arewa House in Kaduna, is organised by a coalition of six groups from the North namely Arewa Consultative Forum, Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Northern Elders Forum, Arewa House, Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa, Arewa Research and Development Project.”
