New Traditional Ruler for Igala Kingdom Coronated
The traditional Ruler of the Igala Kingdom, in north central Nigeria, Attah Igala has been coronated in a ceremony amid pomp and pageantry in Idah, Kogi state.
The new Attah, HRH Matthew Opaluwa is the 28th traditional ruler of the Igala kingdom.
After he was presented with the staff of office by the Governor of the state, Yahya Bello, Attah Mathew Opaluwa thanked the Governor and his people for their support and pledged to always serve.
“I always pray to God to put me in the position where I can act my service. Haven given me this opportunity, I will not disappoint you and my people.
“I will work with you and for my people,” the Attah said.
Governor Bello also commended the Attah for his good character during the coronation ceremony.
He said;
“He is of impeccable character and he is a fulfilled personality, highly respected within his domain, in the country and across the world, we are proud of him.
“We welcome each and everyone of us to this historic event and I am confident that it is going to be a hitch free event and our return back to our destinations will be a hitch-free event also,” Bello added.
Also present at the ceremony was the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The event culminated in the colorful display of masquerades and cultural dances, including other traditional rites.
