Aviation University: Minister signs MoU with Tertiary Institution

In line with the Federal Government’s vision of ensuring the sustainability of the Aviation Industry in Nigeria, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika has signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Nile University of Nigeria for the take-off of the African Aviation and Aerospace University in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Minister said that in line with the practice of the Nigerian University Commission, the government is partnering with Nile University of Nigeria for support and take off of the University with the core mandate of aerospace, aviation and aeronautical science

“The University is going to operate on dual mode,  physical and virtual sections, beginning with Bsc Aviation Business and Bsc Meteorology, then subsequently  Master of Science in Aviation Management will commence in the University.”

Sirika noted that the take-off and governing of the University would be through Public and Private sector arrangement and in the long run would become fully Private.

He explained that the MoU would enable Nile University to provide the attention and research support for the take-off of the undergraduate programme for the first two years as provided by the National University Commission convention and practice.

“It’s also expected that more research in academic collaboration will be  established between AAAU and Nile University for the mutual benefit of the two Institutions.

While Signing the MoU on behalf of the Nile University of Nigeria, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dilli Dogo said Nile university is committed in ensuring the take-off of University in their campus

“After due discussion and intensive negotiation and understanding we have come to the level where officially we can appendage our signature to an MoU that will be mutually beneficial to the two institutions 

“To us, we are privileged and indeed pleased to be part of this MoU and we look forward to actively participate in the delivery of this brand-new university that is to impact positively on Nigeria and the African continent,” Professor Dogo added.”

The University been the first of its kind in Africa is expected to boost the Civil Aviation Industry in Nigeria, economic development and attract investors into the sector to Nigeria and Africa at large.
