The Bauchi State  launched the phase II COVID-19 vaccination exercise with 100,296 vaccines across the 20 local government areas of the state.

This was disclosed by the chairman of the Bauch State Task Force Committee on COVID-19, Baba Tela, during the official inauguration of the phase II COVID-19 vaccination in Bauchi.

He said that the state received 100,296 dosages of COVID-19 vaccines from the American Government to vaccinate the general public in the 20 local government areas.

According to him, the state government is also waiting to receive other vaccines from Pfizer and Johnson Johnson to complement the ones it had just received from the American Government.

This time around, the vaccination is for the general public. We don’t have any target for everyone, it is for everybody that has attained the age of 18 and above.

“We are also urging the general public to come out and be administered with the vaccines for their safety and protection; we would not relent in persuading those resisting the vaccines.

“The vaccines will be taken to every nook and cranny of the remote areas of the state,” the Chairman said.

The task force chairman, who is also the state deputy governor, said that the committee would scale up risk communication activities for the public to create more awareness on the dangers of the public not accepting the vaccines.

He said that the present administration had continued to give the health sector a priority by addressing healthcare challenges in the state.

Earlier, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammmed, the state Chairman of the Primary Health Care and Development Agency, had said that the agency would intensify efforts to see that everybody is vaccinated.

He urged the health workers and those with the responsibility not to allow for any form of abuse of the vaccines.

Mohammed assured the public that the vaccines would be properly maintained and be kept in a cool atmosphere and environment.
