Black Sherif wins BET Hip-hop International Flow Award

Ghanaian music star, Black Sherif, has won the BET “Best International Flow” category award at the 2023 Hip-hop Awards.

Black Sherif beat other greats from around the world including AKA (South Africa), Central Cee (UK), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O (South Africa), Major RD (Brazil), Ninho (France), Sampa The Great (Zambia) and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).

This year’s nomination marked the second time the music star had been nominated in the category.

In 2022, Black Sherif was nominated in the Best International Flow Category at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards but lost out to Benjamin EPPS.

He was nominated in the ‘Best International Flow’ category with Benjamin Epps (France) Central Cee (UK), Blxckie (South Africa), Haviah Mighty (Canada), Knucks (UK), Le Juiice (France), Nadia Nakai (Zimbabwe), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil) at the 2022 edition of the prestigious awards scheme.

Black Sherif is the second Ghanaian artist to win in the category. In 2019, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie also made history as he won in the newly created category Best International Flow.

The music star’s victory at the 2023 BET Awards is a remarkable milestone, both for his career and for the global recognition of African hip-hop.

Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, the artist hails from Kumasi, Ghana, and has quickly risen to prominence within the music industry, captivating audiences with his authentic lyricism and unique sound.

The Best International Flow category at the BET Hip-hop Awards is a testament to the increasing influence of hip-hop across borders. It recognises the artistry of non-American hip-hop artists who have made significant contributions to the genre.
