EmPawa Boss Eazi Calls Out Bad Bunny for Copyright Infringement

Nigerian musician and EmPawa label boss Oluwatosin Ajibade A.K.A Mr. Eazi has taken to social media to call out Latino music giant Bad Bunny for copyright infringement.

Mr. Eazi took to his Twitter account to call out Latino megastar Bad Bunny for infringing on the intellectual property of EmPawa artist Joeboy.

According to Mr. Eazi, Bad Bunny recorded a Joeboy song without going through the standard clearance process with the label and the artist.

“Yo @sanbenito you need to tell your lawyers to stop messing around and clear that Joeboy rip-off on your album,” the tweet reads.

Mr. Eazi then proceeded to add a YouTube link to the song in question in another tweet in an effort to eliminate any doubt as to his claim.

The EmPawa boss didn’t restrict his complaints to Twitter as he took to Linkedin to further expatiate on the copyright infringement.

In the post on his Linkedin page, Mr. Eazi complained about the disregard from Bad Bunny and his label over their failure to clear the song. He further shared that he found their actions to be disrespectful and condescending.

As of the time of filing this report, Bad Bunny’s camp is yet to reply to the accusations.

NNPP Governorship Candidate Tells Stakeholders To Work Towards Party Success

0

The Nasarawa State Governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Abdullahi Maidoya has urged stakeholders to work judiciously for the success of the party.

Maidoya stated this during a meeting of all the Chairmen of local government, their wards counterparts, and major stakeholders of the party.

He said that the NNPP shall take Nigeria from the hands of the present administration for positive change.

“It is only NNPP that has a workable blueprint that will adequately take care of the people, NNPP’s major concern is People and the basis of NNPP’s struggle to take over the Country is to change how things are done, how to improve well-being and the welfare of the people.

“The strategy is to bring government closer to the grassroots by establishing a structure to be known as Community participation reorientation program (CPRC) where Secretariat shall be built across all wards,” he noted.

Maidoya further charged the conscience of the people and urged them to take the message to their people and make them understand the imperative of voting NNPP in the coming election.

“Our prosperity can only be denied by ourselves if we refuse to take the right actions to change our situation, as leaders of your people we have a lot to do to make NNPP succeed in your local governments and Wards,” Maidoya added.

Responding, various chairmen of the local government of the party and wards appreciated Maidoya for his courage and leadership skills.

They promised to do all that it takes to redouble their efforts for the party to win all elections in the State.

Similarly, Maidoya, has debunked the ongoing speculations that the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may step down for Atiku Abubakar ahead of the presidential election.

“There was never a time our presidential candidate, Dr. Kwankwaso met with PDP presidential candidate over such a matter. So to us in the NNPP, those were mere allegations sponsored by the PDP. Maidoya added.

Pakistan Lifts Ban On Wikipedia

0

Islamabad, Pakistan – A ban on Wikipedia has been lifted in Pakistan two days after it was imposed over alleged blasphemous content.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered the country’s telecom regulator to restore the online encyclopaedia with “immediate effect.”

Blocking the site in its entirety was not a suitable measure to restrict access to some objectionable content,” a statement issued by Sharif’s office said.

The unintended consequences of this blanket ban, therefore, outweigh its benefits.

The statement, shared on Twitter by Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, also said a committee has been constituted by the government to review the decision to ban the website as well as matters related to “other online content.”

The committee will explore and recommend alternative technical measures to deal with objectionable content on Wikipedia or other online information sites, keeping in view the “social cultural and religious sensitivities” of the country, where the issue of blasphemy remains a highly contentious and sensitive matter.

At least 80 people have been killed in Pakistan over blasphemy allegations since 1990, including family members of the accused, their lawyers and at least one judge. Reports said.

The Wikimedia Foundation, which runs Wikipedia, welcomed Pakistan’s move to restore the website.

Lifting this ban means that the people of Pakistan can continue to benefit from and participate in its growth within a global movement that strives to spread and share knowledge that is verified, reliable and free,” it said.

Turkey Earthquake: Musa Onyekuru Babajide Safe

0

Super Eagles captain and Sivasspor winger, Ahmed Musa, says there is nothing for Nigerian fans to worry about regarding his safety amid the strong earthquake in that rocked south-eastern Turkey on Monday.

On Monday, a powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey, toppling buildings and leaving a trail of disaster in seven Turkish provinces and northern Syria, with tremors felt as far as Cairo, Egypt.

The high-magnitude tremor struck at 4.17am local time on Monday in south Eastern Turkey near the Syrian border, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicentre of the quake was near the city of Gaziantep at a depth of 17.9km, impacting around seven provinces in Turkey and a large area in northern Syria.

When asked about his safety in Turkey, 2013 African Cup of Nations winner Musa said “Thank you very much, I’m okay here in Turkey.”

Musa also posted on his Twitter handle, “Pray for Turkey.” The tweet was accompanied with a heartbroken emoji.

Musa has made 44 league appearances in the Turkish topflight division playing for Fatih Karagümrük and Sivasspor since he arrived Turkey in 2021.

Also, the wellbeing of his compatriots Henry Onyekurn and David Babajide, who ply their trade with Adana Dermispor in Adana one of the 10 cities affected by the initial quake, including Hatay, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir and Kilis was also confirmed through Babajide’s agent Abiodun Tella.

“I just spoke with Babajide now and he was in company with Henry Onyekuru; they are fine,” Tella said.

“captain Okechukwu Azubuike and Ibrahim Olawoyin, who both play for Rizespor in the second tier division in Turkey, also allayed fears of the disastrous earthquake, which has seen a combined death toll in Turkey and Syria rise to at least 2,300 as at Monday evening.

“We thank God that we are alive here, the earthquake didn’t get here and we pray it won’t,” Azubuike told reporters.

Kelce Bowl Clash Of Brothers Set To Make History

0

Kelce Bowl buzz descended on Phoenix as Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce prepare to make history on Sunday when they become the first brothers to play each other in the Super Bowl.

At the Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday, where throngs of fans packed the Footprint Center, the fraternal fracas was on the tip of every reporter’s tongue.

“It’s a special moment, said Travis, who helped the Chiefs to the championship three years ago. It’s something that, obviously, we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

The pair have each already enjoyed enviable tenures in the National Football League, which could help soften the blow when one of them inevitably walks out of State Farm Stadium on the losing side on Sunday.

The 33-year-old Travis has earned eight Pro Bowl selections and is a bona fide media darling for his rakish charm and on-field heroics.

Jason, by comparison, enjoys a smaller spotlight as an offensive lineman, but has earned six Pro Bowl nods and helped Philadelphia to the Lombardi Trophy five years ago.

“He’s got more Pro Bowls, he’s going in the Hall of Fame as a first ballot, arguably the best tight end of all time, he’s better looking, he’s better at dancing,” said Jason, 35. “Give me one thing, Trav: Let me have more Super Bowls.”

Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, the pair dreamed that they might play in the Super Bowl together – of course, in their childhood fantasy, they were playing on the same team.

Their mother, Donna, has made clear she won’t be picking sides, appearing on Monday at the Super Bowl media blitz in a combined Eagles-Chiefs jersey.

“We both realize that for somebody it’s not going to go well,” Jason said.

“I know it sounds crazy but I think we’re both still rooting for each other, I feel like you can’t help but do that. I might not be rooting for the Chiefs but I’m always rooting for Travis.” he added.

First Class Finch Bows Out In Altered Landscape

0

First class Aaron Finch, who called time on his international career on Tuesday, had his first brush with the elite stars of the global game when he faced Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly in 2007.

The Indians were in whites but this was not a test match but a first-class match between Finch’s state side, Victoria, and the touring test squad at Melbourne’s suburban Junction Oval.

Such matches have become an anachronism over Finch’s long and distinguished career, but the erstwhile Australia limited overs captain still recalled the curtailed contest with fondness.

“It was amazing,” Finch said with a smile in Townsville last year. “It was meant to be a three-day game and 40 overs in, it was just rained out … But I got a stat in the game. Didn’t get a bat, didn’t get a bowl.”

That stat came courtesy of catch at mid-off to dismiss India opener Wasim Jaffer for a duck off the bowling of left-arm paceman Allan Wise. Although it was 11 years before Finch again faced India in whites during his brief test career, he went on to accumulate an impressive array of stats in the shorter formats.

A T20 and ODI World Cup winner, he twice held the record for the highest score in a Twenty20 international with his 172 against Zimbabwe in 2018, bettering his own mark of 156 against England in Southampton in 2013.

The limited-overs cricket that made his name, however, filled up the playing schedule and effectively killed off the first-class tour matches against states, counties and provinces in Australia and abroad.

“The tour games are something that have become less of a priority because guys tend to fly in later for tours,” Finch said. “The Big Bash is going longer and longer, which means the (Sheffield) Shield and the one-day competition gets condensed more and more.”

The last time a state played a full first-class fixture against a touring side in Australia was 2010, and these days tourists are more likely to face hand-picked invitational squads if they want a tune-up for tests.

“If it’s played in the right conditions and it’s a good-spirited game (and) not just a ‘bat-a-thon’ for the visiting team, then I think they’re very valuable,” Finch said. “I’d love to see a full eleven-on-eleven match but I think they are probably dying a little bit, aren’t they?”

The burly opener said that involving lower-ranked international teams in warm-up matches before major series could be a creative alternative.

“Even if it’s a short tri-series or something like that, where you’re playing, potentially, teams like Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands to continue to grow the game,” he said. “The more and more that we can commit to doing that, I think the better the health of world cricket can be.”
