Borno governor inaugurates 1.25m litres water scheme
Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno on Tuesday, inaugurated 1.250 million litres water project at Mboa village in Chibok Local Government Area of the state.
According to Zulum, the facility designed with a storage capacity of 750,000-litre surface tank, 500,000-litre overhead tank and 20 motorised boreholes would supply portable water to 40,000 residents in the area.
The gesture, was part of strategies adopted by the government to address water scarcity bedeviling Chibok and adjourning communities.
“During our electioneering campaign, we promised to address the water problems you face. This night, we are here to commission a multi-million naira project executed to provide Chibok and its environs with water.
“I am very happy to be here to commission this project, let me also commend the Commissioner for Water Resources, Tijjani Alkali, for a job well done,” he said.
Also speaking, Alkali said that a 36,000 watts of solar panel and 100 KVA power generator had been installed at the facility to ensure steady water supply to the community.
