The internal crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level has spread to Borno State, as a faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the group aligned with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, to hand over the party’s affairs in the state.

The Wike-led faction directed the former Borno State PDP Chairman, Zanna Gaddama, to immediately coordinate all former party executives at the ward, local government and state levels to hand over all party documents, properties and records to the newly constituted Borno State PDP Working Caretaker Committee.

The caretaker committee is chaired by Comrade Abbas Musa Jibrin, with Haruna Audi serving as Secretary.

Speaking at a press conference in Maiduguri, a member of the PDP National Working Caretaker Committee of the Wike-led faction, Dr. Grema Kyari, said the handover must be completed within 48 hours to enable the committee commence preparations for fresh ward, local government and state congresses in Borno State.

Dr. Kyari warned that any attempt to resist the directive would be regarded as impersonation and would attract legal consequences.

He said the decision followed a state stakeholders’ meeting of the faction, during which a vote of confidence was passed on its national leader, Nyesom Wike, as well as the faction’s national leadership, headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed as Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as Secretary.

According to him, the faction remains committed to rebuilding, strengthening and repositioning the PDP in Borno State and across the country, based on the principles of justice, legality, inclusiveness and internal democracy.
