Borno State Exhibits First Agricultural Trade Fair

The Borno State Agricultural Development Programme under the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Rural Resilience Activity had organized an Agricultural Trade Fair in Maiduguri for the first time to help the Borno State farmers have access to farm inputs at a subsidized rate.

The trade fair was organized in such a way Agric dealers, seeds companies will showcase their products, it is an avenue for formers to come see and buy Agricultural inputs.

The Director Ministry of Agric and Technical services, who was represented by the Chief extension officer Modu Maida, spoke at the gathering he said, ” you can see seeds companies and research institutes showcasing improved seed varieties to farmers while the agro input dealers provide herbicide and pesticide chemicals for the farmers”.

“it is an avenue where farmers can see all what they need for farming at a very subsidized rate providing them with improved seeds for a purposeful harvest. I will also want to thank the organizers the RRA for a this wonderful event the farmers now have varieties of seeds such as millet, sorghum,
wheat, barley, cowpea and groundnut, and the organizer will also interface between farmers, seeds producers as well as the chemical companies to ensure they purchase what they want at a subsidized rate”.

Dr. Maina Mohammed managing director lacriseed limited, a company established by the Lake Chad research institute to facilitate the distribution and availability of seeds to farmers, also said, ” the Agric fair is very important development especially to our people by bringing improved seeds to the doorsteps of the farmers, I will also like to encourage the organizers to look at the possibilities of organizing such an event on an annual basis”.
