Prime Minister Pierre said Saint Lucia not only honours the dedicated service of the former leader but also celebrates the enduring democratic resilience of a nation that continues to influence and shape Africa’s future.

He further extended special sympathies to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the leadership and citizens of the Daura Emirate.

“On behalf of the Government and People of Saint Lucia, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the passing of His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, former President and Head of State.

“Mr. Buhari served Nigeria with discipline and conviction—first as Head of State from 1984 to 1985, and later as democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023. His leadership spanned critical moments in Nigeria’s modern history, marked by his enduring belief in national sovereignty, public integrity, and institutional discipline.

“At this moment of reflection for the Nigerian people, Saint Lucia stands in solemn solidarity with our African brothers and sisters. We honour not only the service of a former leader, but the democratic resilience of a nation that continues to shape the destiny of the continent.

“As Saint Lucia deepens its engagement with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we do so with a spirit of mutual respect, shared heritage, and principled diplomacy.

“We extend special sympathies to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and the leadership and citizens of the Daura Emirate.”

Prime Minister Pierre prayed for the repose of the former leader’s soul.
