CAFCC: Rivers United trounces Bloemfontein Celtic
It will now be an all-Nigerian CAF Confederation Cup playoff after Rivers United coasted past South Africa’s Bloemfontein Celtic 5-0 on aggregate today to battle Enyimba for a place in the group stage of the competition.
Rivers United today beat Bloemfontein Celtic 3-0 in a first round return leg match played in Porto Novo, Benin Republic, with on-form Godwin Aguda grabbing a brace.
The other goal was scored by Fortune Omoniwari.
Both players also scored when the NPFL club won the first leg 2-0 in South Africa.
This match was played in neigbouring Benin after Nigerian authorities refused to set aside strict Covid-19 measures for the delegation from South Africa.
They will now be hosted by Enyimba on February 14 with the return leg in Port Harcourt a week later.
