The Youths Digest Campus Journalism Initiative has opened the call for entries for the 7th edition of the Campus Journalism Awards (CJA) 2025, a platform dedicated to recognising and celebrating the contributions of student journalists across Nigeria.
This year’s edition, themed “AI and the Future of Journalism,” highlights the transformative role of young journalists in a rapidly evolving media landscape shaped by Artificial Intelligence and technological innovation. Convener of the Campus Journalism Awards and Dialogue, Gidado Yushau Shuaib, announced that 30 finalists will be honoured across 13 categories. He described the initiative as a vital platform for amplifying the voices of young, talented journalists while exploring how AI is reshaping storytelling and the media’s role in society.
The award categories include Entertainment Writer, Sports Writer, Reporter, Gender Equality Reporter, Broadcaster, Photojournalist, Pen Club, Author (Book), Social Media Influencer, Investigative Journalist, Features Writer, Editor, Print Magazine and Syndicated Writer.
Entries open on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, and close on Tuesday, 14 October 2025. The grand award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 6 December 2025, in Abuja. Entries will be judged by a panel of media professionals, journalism scholars and celebrated writers to ensure a rigorous and transparent process. Supported by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC)/Transparency International Nigeria, the 2025 edition promises to be a landmark celebration of innovation, creativity and commitment to truth in journalism.
