German club Bayern Munich secured a vital 1-0 away victory against Paris St Germain (PSG) in their UEFA Champions League first leg match, courtesy of a goal from Kingsley Coman, at the Parc des Princes in Paris, France.
The hosts started with a front-two of Lionel Messi and Neymar in attack, with Kylian Mbappe making the bench after recovering from injury. Bayern featured Cameroon international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting up-front with Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala supporting.
Bayern created numerous chances in the first half as they looked for a valuable away victory. However, PSG held firm as they produced a defensive masterclass to keep the visitors out in the first half.
In the second half, Bayern continued dominating and creating chances and were eventually rewarded after a brilliant piece of play.
In the 53rd minute, Coman opened the scoring for Bayern Munich after he fired a volley into the net after a cross from substitute Alphonso Davis found him.
Four minutes after PSG conceded, star player Mbappe came on for Carlos Soler as the French champions looked for a way back into the game.
Mbappe was denied from close range by Bayern goalkeeper Yann Sommer, before having a goal ruled out for offside in the 82nd minute. Benjamin Pavard was sent off
Despite losing defender Benjamin Pavard after he was sent off by the referee, Bayern Munich held on to claim a valuable 1-0 away win and will head to Germany for the second leg of the encounter in high spirits.
