This year’s Youth Sports Federation of Nigera (YSFON) organised Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) U-14 Boys and Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) U-17
Girls competitions has kicked off at the Kwara Football Academy, as Kwara Girls defeated their Osun State counterparts 4-0 to kick-start their campaign.

The competitions, which will be competed by 19 states will run from Sunday September 25 and Sunday, October 2nd, 2022.
Kwara state teams lost both male and female finals to Ekiti and Cross Rivers states in the 18th edition in Abuja.
While declaring the competition open, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo said that the competitions are the modest contributions of the Nigeria Navy to the development of youth sports in Nigeria.
Accordinng to the CNS, who was represented by Rear Admiral lsmail Zelani, “the CNS/NOWA soccer tournaments have contributed immensely to the overall development of football in our great country”
“The tournaments over the years have produced world class talents who have or presently representing Nigeria national teams in various categories.
The Vice President of YSFON, Mustafa Allah Dey, who represented the President, Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna called for the handing over of the youth sports development structure in the country to YSFON, adding that the youth and sports developing body is a veritable platform for youth empowerment through sports.
Kwara will be competing against states that includes Adamawa, Bauchi, Delta, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Rivers and Benue states, as well as Nigeria Navy.
In the opening game , Kwara female team defeated Osun State 4-0, with goals from Blessing Alfred (3mins and 15minutes -pen) and Rashidat Salau
(17 minutes and 24 minutes).
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, Rear Admiral Ismail Zelani, Commodore R.M Shammah, Mallam Tunde Kazeem of Kazolinks, Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa Agbaji, other Senior Naval Officers, YSFON National Officials and football stakeholders graced the occasion.
According to the YSFON National Secretary, the closing ceremony will hold on Sunday, October 3rd, at the Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin
