China Opposes US and Taiwan Trade Talks

The Chinese government has firmly opposed trade talks between the United States and Taiwan.

The commerce ministry says it will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security, and development interests.

According to the spokeswoman for the ministry, Shu Jueting said the “One China” policy is a prerequisite for Taiwan’s participation in economic cooperation with foreign countries.

Report says Taiwan and US said they will start trade talks under a new initiative.
