The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General, Faruq Yahaya has assured that with the support of other security agencies, Nigeria Army will overcome the security threats bedeviling the Country.
COAS made the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.
He said they were in Kaduna for a seminar organized by the Army Headquarters for senior Military Officers with the purpose of strategizing for Military activities.
According to him, “it is only usual for me to pay homage and pay respect to whom it is due. I am in Kaduna for an event but it’s normal for me to visit”.
COAS applauded the support and cooperation enjoyed by the State Governor, and as well appealed for its continuation.
“I will like to particularly appreciate his excellency, Executive Governor of Kaduna State and the Kaduna State government for the support and cooperation we enjoy from him and from his government.”
In her remarks, Kaduna State acting Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe appreciated the Nigeria Army on the ongoing efforts to tackle banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
She therefore appealed for the deployment of more troops to strengthen the ongoing fight against banditry in the state.
She explained that the Military needs to help the State improve on their strategies so as to wipe away banditry and other criminal activities in the State.
“We want a safe and peaceful Kaduna. We have enjoyed relative peace until recently, when the crisis in Zangon Kataf started again. That has been one major issue we had to handle even with the fact that there has been many peace deals being signed at the Local councils”.
Dr Hadiza requested for the deployment of more troops in the southern area of the state, saying, the situation is really overwhelming.
The Acting Governor also requested the presence of the Military at the Kaduna-Kachia axis as well as the Birnin Gwari road.
