Collation of results at the Independent National Electoral Commission headquarters in Kano state north Western Nigeria for the presidential election has commenced.
The collation started exactly 3.25 pm local time with results of Garun Mallam, Makoda, Rimingado, Kibiya, Geizawa and Kura local government areas so far collated as the Local Government Collation Officers present their documentation’s.
The State Returning Officer, Professor Sulieman Bilbis of the Othman Danfodio University Sokoto state at the commencement of the sitting urged all stakeholders to see the moment as national call and a time to do ones best for the country.
“It is the time to do our best to contribute to the development of our country,” he said.
He urged security agencies and the media to remain committed to the process in order for the excercise to be successful to the end.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of Kano state, Ambassador, Ambassador Abdul Zango urged stakeholders to continue to exhibit peaceful conduct, as it was from the beginning, as the excercise is coming to an end.
“All your long hours of working day and night is comming to and. So let us be patient and maintain peace till the end. I want you all give maximum cooperation to the state Returning Officer as he coordinates the collation,” he said
Voice of Nigeria reports that an interpreter for people with disability, especially for the visually impaired was present.
Others present at the venue are political party repsentatives, international and local observers, security agencies, journalists and other stakeholders.
Kano has 44 local governments and 3 senatorial districts.
