Convocation: 7,781 Graduate From Kwara State Polytechnic

Seven Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-One Students have graduated from both its HND and OND programmes in the Kwara State Polytechnic in North Central Nigeria.

The Rector, Abdul Jimoh Mohammed stated this during a Press briefing as part of the activities to mark the 28th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution.

Jimoh said the Management of the Institution is moving the Engineering and applied Sciences complex, Institute of Technology, IOT, to the school’s permanent site in Araa, a suburb in Ilorin, the state capital.
This is happening forty-nine years after the creation of the institution.
The Rector also announced a high level partnership with reputable institutions to train students on skills inorder to become job creators.
He also stated that the students of the polytechnic would be more entrepreneurial after the school management pulled off  the prestigious signing of MoUs with the Prototype Engineering Development Institute, Ilesha, Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi and Mantrac CAT, an engineering concern in Ikeja.
The Convocation ceremony would be held Tuesday, 18th and Thursday, 20th October, 2022.
Within the 2021/2022 period under review, Dr Mohammed said it faced challenges and made some remarkable achievements.

We have problem of land encroachment but we have set up committee on the matter to see how to manage the situation,”he added.

Jimoh also complained of lack of funds and the need to fence the entire school to as a means of securing the higher institution, stressing that “school is in the final stages of opening its microfinance bank, the Kwara Poly Microfinance Bank, with which it hopes to shore up it’s revenue base.”
Necessary steps towards the take-off of the project have been taken with opening an account with Keystone Bank, the parent bank for our Bank, while application for registration is in final stage of approval at the Central Bank of Nigeria,” he added.
