Kaduna State Governor Presents 2023 proposed Budget

The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has presented to the state House of Assembly a proposed Budget of over 370.33 billion Naira for the year 2023.

The State Government stated while presenting the budget to the State House of Assembly in Kaduna, saying that there was an increase in the budget proposal when compared to the 2021 and 2022 budgets adding that many factors contributed to the increase.

Governor Nasir El-rufai  presented  a proposed 2023 budget size of N370bn, tagged the “Budget of Continuous Growth and Development”, proposed spending N242.6bn as capital expenditure and N 124.7bn as recurrent expenditure

He said the 2023 budget will give more priority to Education, Security, Agriculture, and also the provision of social infrastructure that would enhance the living conditions of the citizens of the state.

“This 65%:35% capital to recurrent ratio continues the pattern established since the 2016 Budget.

The 2023 estimates maintain the focus on human capital development. Our proposal allocates 45.34% of the budget to Education and Health. 

 The allocations of 29% to the Education sector and 16.05% to Health leave no doubt about our abiding commitment”

 “This final budget concludes eight years of determined effort to make lives better by putting people first. We have implemented empowerment policies, respecting people enough to free them from dependence.”

“We have diligently sought to promote equal opportunity, improve human capital development, build infrastructure, attract new businesses, support existing ones and run a system that promotes the ease of doing business.”

He added that the rate of maternal mortality has greatly reduced given the efforts put in place by the state government, where all primary health center was put in place, and health personnel was recruited.

The speaker of the Assembly, Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani commended the state government for presenting the state Budget for the year 2023

While saying that, the budget will be looked into by the appropriation committee to ensure all sectors are been effectively affected.
