Cricket: Women’s T-20 International Invitational Tournament Set For Lagos
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) is set to host the 3rd edition of the Women’s T-20 International invitational tournament in Lagos, as the annual engagement will have 5 countries participation this year.
The tournament will commence on March 27th, 2023 and the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Oval in Lagos would be hosting all the games of the Women’s T-20. The countries participating in are defending Champions Rwanda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cameroon and hosts Nigeria.
The Gambia, who were part of the last event, have opted out due to personal reasons and Cameroon will take their place as the nation makes their debut in the tournament.
The tournament will provide the much needed platform for women’s cricket to thrive on the continent and also be used as basis for ICC Africa and Global rankings.
Teams are expected to arrive on the 25th of March and depart on the 3rd of April, with 6 playing match days. The tournament will be on a round robin format, where the top 2 teams will play in the finals to determine the champions.
As part of the Federation’s drive to promote “Gender Equity” in the game, there will be a balance of technical officials for the tournament with 3 male and Female members of the playing control team (PCT).
Fixtures and updates of the tournaments will be announced in due time.
