The government of Cross River State in southern Nigeria, has reiterated its willingness to deploy human and material resources for an improved primary healthcare delivery service.

The deputy governor of Cross River State, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu told participants at the third quarterly meeting of the State’s Task Force on Primary Healthcare that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s led Administration was committed to creating universal access for the people.
According to a press statement by the deputy governor’s Head of Press, Mr. Owupele Benebo indicated that Professor Odu stated that, “Immunization and primary healthcare are critical for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 3, which aims to promote healthy lives and encourage well-being for all.
“If we get primary healthcare delivery right, it would be much easier to get secondary and tertiary healthcare services right as well,” she said.
The statement further indicated that the Deputy Governor, who also chairs the State Task Force on Primary Health said, “The collective goal of the Task Force is to improve the health and well-being of all residents in the Rivers State irrespective of their status through enhanced immunization and primary healthcare services.”
It stated that the deputy governor congratulated other members of the team on the success of the 2nd Round of the National Immunization Days Campaign, which was launched in Opobo recently and implored them to continue to support Governor Fubara by putting in your best to keep the Rivers People healthy.
Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh said that the Task Force made efforts to strategically address the challenges of delivering quality primary healthcare services to citizens by closing the gaps and improving the system.
