Customs intercepts 317 packages of Marijuana in Niger State

The Niger/Kogi State Command of the Nigerian Customs has intercepted over 317 Packages of compressed Marijuana ( Cannabis Sativa) of 253.6kg weight.

 

The Comptroller in charge of the Command, Busayo Kadejo while briefing the press at the Command’s Office in Minna Niger State on Tuesday, says “the estimated street value of the seized items N20,695,00.00 million naira.

 

The Comptroller who handed the seized items to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency’s Commander in Niger State Mr. Haruna Kwetishe for further action appreciated the effort of other security agencies in their usual collaboration in curtailing crime within the Command.

 

 “If the packages had escaped our eyes, they would have helped in the execution and sustenance of crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, thuggery and other social vices’, Comptroller Kadejo said.

 

He further urged the Community, opinion leaders and other stakeholders within the society to always report to law enforcement agencies any suspicious activities within the environment.

 

While commending Nigerians engaged in legitimate business, Comptroller Kadejo reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Customs to suppress smuggling activities to the barest minimum.
