Dammy Krane Mirrors Davido’s ‘5ive’ Album Title, Release Date
Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has announced that his upcoming EP, titled 5ive, will be released on Friday, 18 April 2025, the same day Davido is scheduled to drop his highly anticipated fifth studio album, also named 5ive.
The move has sparked controversy, as it mirrors both the title and release date of Davido’s project. While surprising to some, it is not entirely unexpected given the ongoing feud between the two artists.
Dammy Krane, who rose to prominence with the 2014 hit single Amin, was once close friends with Davido before their relationship deteriorated over allegations of unpaid royalties. “Davido still dey owe me,” the singer claimed on social media in 2022, referring to their past collaboration.
Since then, Dammy Krane has made a series of online accusations, including the unverified claim that Davido was involved in the deaths of some of his associates. These remarks led to his arrest by Nigerian police in 2024. He was subsequently released after issuing a public apology, admitting the allegations were false.

Davido, a four-time Grammy nominee, eventually responded to the repeated attacks. “Ungrateful… I gave you three verses to help your career,” he wrote in a now-viral post, addressing Dammy Krane directly.
While Davido has explained that the title 5ive reflects a milestone as his fifth studio album, Dammy Krane has not provided any reason for choosing the same name. Industry observers believe the move may be calculated, with one insider remarking, “It’s a strategic move; listeners searching for Davido’s album might stumble upon Dammy Krane’s instead.”
As both projects prepare for release on the same day, fans are watching closely to see how the rivalry will influence public reception, and whether this latest development will reignite tensions or bring them to a close.
