Nigerian music icons Davido and Burna Boy, alongside other top artists, are set to perform at the inaugural Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) All-Star Game, organized in partnership with Nilayo Sports Management. The event will showcase a thrilling football match featuring the league’s top players from the Northern and Southern regions, blending entertainment and sports to captivate fans.

At a press conference in Abuja, NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye emphasized the event’s importance in promoting the league and raising its profile. He drew comparisons to the success of the Super 6 tournament held last year, which attracted fans nationwide and was broadcast live on SuperSport.

“We’re aiming to build on last year’s momentum. Fans came from all over the country to watch our homegrown soccer stars, and it was a massive success,” Elegbeleye stated.

The NPFL collaborated with Nilayo Sports Management Ltd., a leading Nigerian sports marketing firm, to bring more glamour to the league. Chief Bukola Olopade, Managing Director of Nilayo Sports, has been instrumental in this partnership, leveraging the company’s experience in sports promotion.

The NPFL All-Star Game will take place at the end of the season, featuring 44 players—22 each from the Northern and Southern Conferences—competing in an exciting showdown. Players will receive a N1m appearance fee, while celebrity coaches, guiding the teams alongside regular coaches, will earn N2m.

With performances from Davido, Burna Boy, and other Nigerian music stars, the event promises to blend football and entertainment to attract more corporate sponsorships and increase the league’s visibility.

Elegbeleye also stressed the league’s enduring presence in Nigerian football: “While national teams come and go, the league is a permanent fixture. We’re committed to taking it to new heights.”

The NPFL All-Star Game is set to be a milestone event that will elevate the Nigerian Premier League’s profile through a fusion of music, football, and entertainment.
