The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jubrin, has congratulated Nigeria’s national female football team, the Super Falcons, on their historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the team’s victory as a testament to their resilience, talent, and unyielding national spirit.

The Super Falcons defeated the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3–2 in a pulsating final match of the 13th WAFCON, played at the Rabat Olympic Stadium in Morocco.

The triumph marks the 10th time Nigeria has lifted the trophy.

“I congratulate the Super Falcons and indeed all Nigerians on our team’s historic victory at the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament. This victory is a testament to our players’ resilience, talent and unyielding national spirit. This is a moment of immense pride and celebration for our nation,” he said.

The Deputy President of the Senate, who is the founder of Barau Football Club—which recently secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after an impressive outing at the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs—said the Super Falcons have again proven Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.

“The team’s determination, discipline, and passion throughout the tournament are commendable. It inspires a new generation of Nigerian girls to believe in the power of their dreams. Kudos to the coaching crew, the Nigerian Football Federation, and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s success,” he said.
