
The President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Uche Agbo, and the Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Félix Artieda, have expressed readiness to collaborate on a Nigerian–Spanish filmmakers exchange programme.
They reached this agreement during a courtesy visit by the DGN President and his team to the Spanish Embassy on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to both parties, the partnership aims to strengthen cultural ties and expand professional development opportunities for creatives from both countries.

They also discussed the exciting prospect of hosting a Spanish–Nigerian Film Week later in the year, a collaboration intended to showcase the cinematic artistry of each nation.
In his remarks, Agbo described the engagement as “very promising,” highlighting DGN’s commitment to elevating Nigerian cinema through international cooperation.
“This partnership will nurture shared storytelling, broaden access to training and festivals, and elevate Nigerian narratives on a global stage,” he said.
Ambassador Artieda, who warmly welcomed the initiative, reiterated Spain’s commitment to deepening cultural diplomacy with Nigeria through film and the arts.
He thanked the DGN President and his team for the visit and reaffirmed his willingness to work with the guild in actualising its plans.
The Directors’ Guild of Nigeria is the umbrella body of Nollywood’s film directors.
