This is to “help the country rely less on importing wheat from other countries.

Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister for Agriculture and Food Security, disclosed this during the launch of the 2023/2024 national wheat production policy in Kadume village, Hadejia Local Government, Jigawa state, Northwestern.

The plan, according to the minister, is to cultivate more than 100,000 hectares this year to reduce the need for importing wheat.

Senator Kyari mentioned that over 250,000 farmers will receive support from the federal government to produce more than 1,250,000 metric tonnes of wheat across the country.
