The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, and his wife, Nonye Soludo, have called on Christians to embrace faith, unity, and acts of compassion as they celebrate Easter.

In separate messages marking the Christian festival, the governor and the first lady highlighted the significance of Easter as a symbol of hope, renewal, and sacrifice.

Governor Soludo described Easter as the foundation of the Christian faith, representing the triumph of light over darkness and life over death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He said the season offers an opportunity for reflection and a recommitment to values such as selflessness, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

“Christ’s journey to the cross and His resurrection remind us that true leadership and citizenship require putting others first and choosing peace even in the face of adversity,” the governor said.

He extended his goodwill to Christians across Nigeria, praying for renewed hope, peace in homes, and a more just and harmonious society.

In her message, the first lady, Nonye Soludo, emphasised love and generosity, urging Nigerians to reach out to those in need during the celebrations.

She said Easter reflects Christ’s unconditional love and victory over death, calling on individuals to share with others and spread kindness within their communities.

“Do not celebrate alone, give and share, no matter how little,” she said, encouraging people to find fulfilment in acts of compassion.

She also prayed for peace, health, and happiness in families and communities, expressing hope that the message of Easter would inspire unity and goodwill across the state and beyond.

Easter, one of the most important events in the Christian calendar, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is widely observed across Nigeria with church services and family gatherings.
