The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria, has received new members defecting from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The State APC Chairman, Mr Stanley Okoroemegha, disclosed this shortly after receiving the new members at his office in Abakaliki, the State capital.

Emegha said the purpose of bringing everyone together was to ensure that those who had served the state and were still willing to contribute their quota were incorporated to support the present administration in achieving its mantra, the People’s Charter of Needs.

“By the 28th of this month, the Member representing Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, Mr Nkemkama Kama, will join the party. Even by December, others, such as Idu Igariwey, representing Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, will also join. We are doing our best to bring together our stakeholders in the state,” he said.

The State Chairman added that the ongoing defections were a result of Governor Nwifuru’s impact on the people of the state.

The new members, led by the former State Commissioner for Finance, Barrister Timothy Odah, arrived at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki with a large number of supporters, who chanted solidarity songs for the party.
