Ebonyi Commissioner Commends Governor Nwifuru On Cultural Sagacity

The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Prince Stanley Ogbuewu has commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr Francis Nwifuru for the interest he has in making sure that the cultural norms in the in the State is upheld.

Mr Ogbuewu said one aspect of the Culture which he has often upholds is Speaking of Mother tongue where ever it is necessary.

The Commissioner said during the last Heritage Festival of Ojiji Izzi Cultural festival, the Governor Spoke in his dialect without mistake and people were very happy with that.

“If we can practice our different culture in our land, the society will forever be good because as far as I am concerned, no culture permits killing of human beings which is the order of the day”.

Ogbuewu said “Speaking of Mother tongue is very good because that is what you will use transcend the cultural norms to your children in such a way that the will understand it”

He proposed that the Governor Should approve the use of people’s dialect in Executive Council meeting, except if there is a foreign visitors who is who cannot understand it.

He called on everybody to support the efforts of the Governor in restoring back the cultural values of the Land.

TOURIST CENTERS

The commissioner added that because of lack of interest in the things concerning the culture, most of the tourist centers which supposed to be the connection to the cultural practices are quickly decaying.

“In Ebonyi State for instance, we have Over 30 tourist centers, but the most fascinating is the Amancho Cave in Afikpo South LGA Area in the State.
This particular cave is about 14 kilometers long, when you enter this Cave, it can take you to another community called Owutu Edda. I have been there myself but this particular cave needs to be developed so that even foreign visitors will be coming there”

He said it is the Longest cave in Africa.
There are other centers like Juju hill in One road, Abakaliki, Green lake park Among others.
