Ebonyi Governor cautions Youths against cultism

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has called on Nigerian Youths to eschew cultism, terrorism, kidnapping, wanton destruction of lives and government facilities.

Governor Umahi stated this while declaring open the 65th Emergency Senate Meeting of the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, in Abakaliki the State capital.

Umahi deeply expressed concern over the rate of social ills in Nigeria today.

“I am personally worried on the incessant cases of kidnappings, cult killings, and wanton destruction of government facilities, armed robbery, and other social vices”, Umahi said.

He advised youths to always consider peace and security of Nigeria in their daily activities.

Governor Umahi lauded Nigeria President, Mohammedu Buhari for the financial assistance given to different State Governors adding that the massive infrastructure witnessed in many States of the country is as a result of the assistance.

“The financial assistance are the repayment of federal government projects embarked by the State Governments and the payment of Paris Club funds to States”. Umahi added.

Also the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Religious and welfare matters, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali encouraged the youths to always be of good behavior.

“Let me assure you one thing, if you can be a good student leader today, you can be a good Presidents, Governors and other various leadership positions tomorrow”, Nwali added.

The President of Senate, National Association of Nigerian Students, Comrade Innocent Okafor commended Governor Umahi for his numerous infrastructural developments in the State.

Comrade Okafor challenged other State Governors to emulate from Umahi’s laudable projects.

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, Comrade Sunday Dayo said the meeting was convened to discussing issues affecting students in Nigeria.
