Ebonyi: President Tinubu Flags Off Cancer Centre In DUFUHS

The Nigeria’s President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu has officially flagged off the ultra modern Cancer centre in David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences DUFUHS.

 

The Flag off ceremony was performed at the Cancer centre located at the DUFUHS in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria.

 

Nigeria’s President, who was represented by the Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi said the cancer centre will provide Excellent facilities and patients care services.

 

“The DUFUHS Cancer centre will integrate Scientific theory and practice  in management of people with cancer and related diseases,” he said.

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Jesse Uneke thanked  Mr President, Tinubu and Nigeria Minister of Works Senator David Umahi for making the University a reversal of Medical tourism and center of excellent learning.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS OF THE DUFUHS CANCER CENTRE

 

Professor Jesse Uneke highlighted the following as the functions of the Cancer centre.

 

“Research and development in Cancer and related disease In addition to excellent patient care services, the DUFUHS Cancer Centre will integrate scientific theory and practice in the management of people with cancer and related diseases. The Centre will undertake cutting-edge research in cancer with latest technologies and advance evidence-based practice through thr following ways.

 

“Performing rigorous periodic cancer surveillance and basic scientific research to discover the causes and mechanisms of cancer and to understand the molecular changes that occur in cancer initiation and progression.

 

“Translating the discoveries and advances in research rapidly from the laboratory to the clinic to develop lifesaving and life-prolonging interventions for people with cancer.

 

“Developing highly innovative technologies that will facilitate earlier and more accurate detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer and  Dissemination of scientific findings, sharing expertise, scient: data, and technologies to broaden the impact of the work of the Centre and enhance productivity of the cancer research in Nigeria,” Uneke added.

 

On his part, the Chief Executive officer of Tanit Medical Engineering, Mr Anthony Nateis said the center will end the lost hope in cancer management in the Country.
