Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria RIFAN Ebonyi State chapter has distributed farm inputs, ranging from bags of fertilizers, rice seedlings and herbicides to Ebonyi farmers as part of Federal Government Anchor Borrowers Scheme.
The Chairman of the Association Mr Chima Bassey made this known to Journalists in Abakaliki the State capital.
Chima encouraged Ebonyi people to participate in the Anchor Borrowers Scheme to boost agriculture in the state.
A member representing Onicha West state constituency, Mr Chukwuma Iwe urged the people to embark on farming in order to have food security in the state and Nigeria at large.
“Farming pays very well, I encourage our youths to venture into it” he said.
The representative of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs Adaku Anyamma said the inputs are mainly loan repayable when the the time comes.
The Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Moses Ogodoali Nome while supporting the loan inputs which according were given to farmers at a subsidized rate, called on “every Ebonyi man to take the farming business very seriously”.
Ogodoali warned that no beneficiary should sell the inputs but it should be used for the purpose it was meant.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ngozi Akputa expressed happiness over the inputs.
