Ebonyi State Assures Corps Members Of Adequate Hospitality

The Governor of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, has assured the members of 2023 batch ‘C’ stream ‘ll’ National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), of adequate Hospitality throughout their service year as they serve to impact positively on the people of the State.

Governor Nwifuru who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, who is also the State Chairman NYSC Governing Council, Mr. Richard Idike gave this assurance during the swearing in ceremony at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State.

He said “it cannot be argued that some of you are setting your feet on the Ebonyi soil for the first time. I urge you to feel at home because our people are not only hospitable; they are kind-hearted especially to corps members. You must therefore feel free to interact with the people and free your mind from all forms of previously held negative stories about the people as they never existed and make good use of the opportunity that service year has offered.”

He equally promised an enabling environment for members of the service corps to operate in the state.

On her part, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Oladeinde Foluke said the National Youth Service Corps in fulfillment of its objectives since inception 50 years ago is promoting national unity, Integration and accelerated socio-economic development of the nation as well as instilling in our youths a tradition of industry at work, patriotic and loyal service to Nigeria.

“It is a thing of joy therefore, as graduates from various institutions, diverse cultures and backgrounds gather for service to fatherland.

“I am very much aware that in the course of the orientation exercise, you will be introduced to various processes and national issues, you will also learn about the language, culture and traditions of the people; you would also go through some training, such as Para-military, Man ‘O’ war, SAED amongst others. All these are been designed to adequately prepare you for the service year and beyond.

“I therefore urge you my children, to brace up, key in with renewed vigor to participate actively. I have no doubt therefore that you will record a hitch free orientation, rich and rewarding service year in Ebonyi State,” Oladeinde said.

She informed that a total of 2,050 corps members have been deployed to Ebonyi state, out of which, 1820 have reported and have been registered, 924 males and 896 females.
