Ebonyi State Government Southeast Nigeria has embarked on Free medical screening to reduce the number of deaths incurred as a result of none medical services to people of the State.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical Services, Dr Richard Nnabu disclosed this to Journalists in Abakaliki the State capital.
Dr Nnabu said the screening would help to detect early stage of infections and treatments.
“Many people have lost their love as a result of irregular health screening.
“His Excellency the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Umahi approved this excercise because of the love he has for Ebonyi people.
“It’s going to be at all levels of government, that is the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary, after which, it would be stepped down to Local Government levels. It will go round to all Local Government Areas in the State to ensure safety of the people” Nnabu said.
“With this screening, many lives would be saved from hepatitis B&C and cervical cancer” he added.
He called on the general public to always patronize the experts when it comes to medical services.
He thanked the state Governor for priotizing the health of his people.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Chris Achi said early detection of Hepatitis could save someone from liver diseases.
“Cervical cancer could also be controlled if early detected. Women would be screened against cancer of the cervix” Achi said.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mrs Queen Agwu said the screening is a welcome development.
She encouraged people to avail themselves for the screening.
