South Africa has donated 34,000 tons of maize to the people of Zimbabwe.
The donation is the first consignment of aid pledged in March 2019 for victims of Cyclone Idai.

South Africa, through the African Renaissance & International Cooperation Fund (ARF), pledged R50 Million in humanitarian support to those affected by Cyclone Idai.
South Africa’s International Relations Department said the outbreak of Covid-19 delayed the implementation of the project, which will now be completed by September 2021.
Cyclone Idai caused catastrophic damage and a humanitarian crisis in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, leaving more than 1,300 people dead and many more missing.
