Ebonyi State Senator Cautions Stakeholders Against Electoral Vices
The Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone Dr. Sam Egwu has called on Stakeholders and the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, not to Incite some Youths who are loyal to them to cause action that can Jeopardize the peaceful nature of the forthcoming General election in the State.
The Senator rather appealed that people should be allowed to exercise their democratic rights in the State.
Egwu frowned at the attitude of some boys of Amegu community who mounted road blocks leading to Senator Nguji Ngele’s house where the people of Abakaliki Local Government Area were organizing a rally and reception in favour of Egwu who is reconstesting for the Senatorial position of the zone.
The Senator disclosed this while addressing the mammoth crowd at Senator Nguji Ngele’s residence in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The Ebonyi State Government led by Governor David Umahi had earlier banned the use of the public facilities in the State for campaign. Therefore, his final campaign was held at Mr. Mike Nwebonyi’s house instead of using public facilities around the area and today campaign was held at Senator Nguji Ngele’s house.
“We should Remember that what ever thing we do must surely come back to us.
Am surprised that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Umahi is fighting opposition political parties in the State with all his strength. The same Umahi contested Governorship with Government in power then Chief Martin Elechi which no one opposed him from campaigning in any local Government or ward. But today, Umahi wants to crush anybody coming from opposition other than APC in the State. I am very surprised”.
“I am here as a PDP Senatorial Candidate under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to canvas for votes, it is your right to choose whom to vote for, election is not war. I know that not all of you who are here to grace my campaign today will vote for me but I know that majority would like to vote for me. Our politicians should stop using force on people but should rather use persuasion in Liu of coercion”. Egwu added.
He thanked the people of Izzi clan for their support so far, beginning from when he was Governor of the State till now. “Our Youths, don’t take laws into your hands because of me, God has a way of fighting my enemies. My enemy must surely gather, but if their gathering is not of God, they will scattered and fight themselves”. He said.
The PDP Candidate for the House of representatives for Izzi/Abakaliki Federal Constituency, Chief Banabas Ofoke thanked all the PDP supporters in the State.
Ofoke urged all the PDP supporters to be resilient no matter the intimidation of the ruling party in the State.
