Ebonyi State Union Of Journalists Mourns Simon Ezaka

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ebonyi State Council has expressed shock on the sudden death of a veteran Broadcaster, Dr Simon Ezaka.

A statement issued by the NUJ Chairman in the state, Comrade Samson Nwafor said; “Council received with rude shock, the news of the sudden death of the ace broadcaster in a ghastly motor accident along the ever busy Abakaliki-Afikpo Highway on Monday.”

The statement further said the late Dr Ezaka was a staff of the Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, EBBC, before he took up a teaching job at the State’s University, where he remained a senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, until his sudden death.

The statement reads in part, “he was also the Founder and Chairman of Fastlink Chapel, Publishers of Fastlink Newspaper, a local tabloid based in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.”

It also described the late Dr Ezaka as a thorough-bred Journalist, teacher and Unionist, stressing that he made invaluable contributions to the growth and Development of the Media Industry in Ebonyi State and beyond.

His sudden death is not just a huge loss to his immediate family and Amana Community of Ezza South LGA but to the Media industry as well as the University Community, especially as his passing is coming at a time when his wealth of experience is highly needed,” the statement added.

The NUJ prayed for the eternal repose of the Soul of the deceased media icon and for God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
