Kwara State Governor, North Central Nigeria, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sworn in Dr Alabi Afeez Abolore as the Commissioner for Solid Minerals, charging him to be patriotic, hardworking and prudent in his new office.

The move sees Engr. AbdulQuawiy Olododo assuming full responsibility as the Commissioner of the Ministry of Works and Transport – a position he had juggled in an acting capacity with his Solid Minerals portfolio.

Dr Alabi, a native of Iponrin in Ilorin East local government had earlier served the state as Commissioner for Tertiary Education until May 29, 2023.

You are again joining the administration on the back of your track record, your commitment to excellent public service, and your people skills as a technocrat and a politician,” the Governor said in Ilorin at a brief ceremony attended by the House of Assembly Speaker, Yakubu Salihu Danladi, a handful of cabinet members, and some political leaders from Ilorin East.

The government has a clear agenda to leave Kwara a lot better than it met it. We have made impressively positive differences across the state, and you are joining the cabinet to contribute your bit to the progress so far made.

“Teamwork, due diligence, hard work, patriotism, and prudence are key to achieving greater efficiency and better outcomes in this important role. I trust you to do your best as you join the cabinet once again.”

At the event was the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Mamman Saba Jibril; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince AbdulKadir Mahe, APC party Chairman for Ilorin East, Comrade Habib Lawal among other dignitaries and family members.

Prof Jibril, on his part, tasked the Commissioner to be loyal, steadfast and committed as he takes up the new responsibility, adding that his pick was a reward for his service to the community and a support for the party.

Dr Alabi, in his remarks, thanked the governor for again trusting him to serve the state.

He pledged not to let down his government and the people of the state.

“I am standing here this evening to pledge that all the sterling qualities you have presented in your speech shall be achieved. I am going to work in a way to ensure that all the unwavering commitment, dedication, and loyalty shall continue. I will not fail the administration,” he said.

Alhaji LAK Jimoh, who spoke on behalf of Ilorin East LG, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for the choice of Dr Alabi, which he said is apt and will be rewarding to the state.
