Members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria RTEAN, have been charged to fully support the anti-corruption crusade of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC as the agency cannot do it alone.

The Public Affairs arm of the Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC led by its Head, Ayodele Babatunde gave the charge on Monday during a sensitisation campaign on the ills of corruption at the Association’s Secretariat along Airport road, Ilorin.

Ayodele, who extended the goodwill message of the Ilorin Zonal Head of the EFCC, Usman Muktar, emphasized the importance of a collective effort in executing the war against corruption.

“The EFCC cannot fight corruption alone, and we need your assistance in the area of creating awareness in order for Nigerians to understand the effect of corruption on the society,” he said.

He urged the union’s leadership to assist the anti-graft agency by exposing corrupt members who are involved in shady deals, stressing that some corrupt individuals use public transportation for money laundering activities.

Ayodele also admonished the members to stop glorifying corrupt individuals in our society and urged them to ensure transparency and sincerity in their finances.

“I know corruption will fight back but we must not allow corruption to kill Nigeria, and in the end we will win,” he added.

Appreciating the EFCC for its gesture, the State Chairman, RTEAN, Alhaji Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa noted that the expectations from the anti-graft agency were no doubt enormous, and added that the union’s support was certain.
