He highlighted the significance of the festival in fostering national cohesion, urging Nigerians to uphold the virtues learned during Ramadan such as self-discipline, generosity, and devotion in their everyday interactions.

Governor Fubara’s message aligns with calls from leaders across the country for unity and peaceful coexistence, particularly during religious festivities that bring together people of diverse backgrounds.

Eid el-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as the culmination of Ramadan, a sacred month devoted to fasting, prayer, and acts of charity. It is a period marked by thanksgiving, communal prayers, and the strengthening of social bonds.

The Nigerian Government had declared Thursday, 19 March, and Friday, 20 March 2026, as public holidays to enable Muslims and other Nigerians to fully participate in the celebrations.
