Ekiti governorship primary election to hold January 27

Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, has set January 27, 2022, to hold its Ekiti State Governorship Primary Election.

This is according to a revised timetable released by the APC’s National Caretaker Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoedehe.  Previously APC set January 22, 2022 for the primary election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has set June 18, 2022 as the date to hold the Ekiti governorship election.

The APC’s Revised Schedule of Activities from last year to date is as follows;

Notice of Election to the State Chapter: Monday, November 15, 2021; 

“Sale of Forms (APC National Secretariat): Tuesday, November 16, 2021; 

“Last Day for Submission of Completed Forms and accompanying documents (APC National Secretariat): Saturday, January 15, 2022; 

“Screening of Aspirants: Tuesday, January 18, 2022;

“Publication of claims and objections: Thursday, January 20, 2022;

“Screening Appeals: Sunday, January 23, 2022; 

“PRIMARY ELECTION: Thursday, January 27, 2022; 

“Election Appeal: Friday 28th / Saturday 29th  January 2022,” the notice read.

The APC fixed the sale of the forms at N22.5million. While the nomination form costs N20 million, the expression of interest form costs N2.5million.

However, female aspirants and physically challenged aspirants are to pay 50% of the prescribed fees. Several aspirants have already shown interest by purchasing the forms.
